TKP signs MOA with Bread for the World
A Memorandum of Agreement was signed between TKP and Bread for the World (BftW) to conduct a project titled “Sustainable Resource Management in Bougainville communities.” BftW, a German Development Agency, had two of its officers visit the Kainake and Kagalalo communities in April 2019 and have since been negotiating with TKP to develop a 12-month project to look at ways sustainable livelihoods and resource management could be supported.
The project has three principal project activities that include the following;
Vanilla training for farmers.Training to be provided by an expert with an international vanilla distribution business;
Financial Literacy for farmers; and
Cocoa processing facility and development of rural market access and supply chains.
A Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is being pursued to ensure market access is brought to the rural community through sound business conditions. The PPP model will also be used to provide an economic incentive for conservation and improved social returns.
